A Stylish Entrance Favourite
Posted by admin in Home Glass Improvement on January 8, 2010

Welcoming entrance does more to greet friends and family than any other element of your home’s exterior. But, don’t forget that your entrance is much more than just your front door. Your walkways, your landscaping, your lighting and your front porch are all part of that first entry impression.
Most front entrances do little more for your home than serving a purpose, letting occupants and visitors in and out. Ironically, this is also an area where you can make a huge impact without breaking the bank.
I like wood style balinesse design. Take a look at the front of your home. Does your front door have any accents? Is the paint cracking and peeling? What is the state of your landscape? Does your current lighting scheme work?
The Types of Wood Shelves
Posted by admin in Home Glass Improvement on January 3, 2010

Storage shelves offer tremendous utility to practically any home environment. Custom storage shelf units can not only be built very economically but also be built so that they take advantage of every square inch of available space. They can be built by many kinds of materials but wood is one of the most economical choices. It is easy to work with and yields a sturdy and functional shelving unit. Your choice of wood will vary, of course according to your needs. For most purposes the type of wood is not as important as its pre-cut dimensions. Boards that are twelve inches wide might fit some purposes, for example, but those that are only a few inches wide might fit right into that wasted space beside a door and an adjacent wall.
The first step in designing a shelving unit is deciding exactly where you want to place it. Measure the available area carefully and decide just what will be put on the shelf once it is completed. Remember that if you intend to store items on the very top of the unit you will have to allow enough distance between the ceiling and the top shelf to allow you to do so. If you are building a bookshelf that is only three or four feet wide then a plank width of ten inches and a thickness of one inch might be appropriate. If you are taking advantage of a small area to store can goods you might get by with a shelf width of only four inches and a shelf thickness of only three-quarters of an inch. About the colour, of course it depends on your choice. But make sure paint it if you desire before moving it into place. While the unit is designed to be freestanding it is always prudent to bracket shelves securely to the wall to prevent accidents. Custom-built storage shelves offer many benefit over commercially produced units. Custom shelving units can be built in just a couple of hours. They are economical to construct and offer the most effective space utilization.
Favorite Square Oak Coffee Tables
Posted by admin in Home Glass Improvement on January 3, 2010

Square coffee tables have got to be the most popular type, and you can choose from literally hundreds of styles and designs. As with a round table, a square table is symmetrical, meaning it will feel at home in almost any room style or shape, but will be happiest in a symmetrical room. If you plan to add your square table to a non symmetrical room or layout, such as a rectangular room, you should at least try to adjust your layout to allow for some symmetry. When buying a square oak coffee table, you should decide how much you want to spend and remember that spending more money on a quality piece of furniture will reward you in the end because it will last for many years, and could even increase in value. Cheaper pieces are often made from, or feature oak veneers, which may be fine for an occasional table for example, but for a main use piece of furniture, you should aim to buy a solid square oak coffee table.
